“The global 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women and Children is a rallying call for all sectors to play an active role in raising awareness on the unacceptable levels of violence perpetrated against some of the most vulnerable members in society, namely women and children. ChildSafe has a unique role in this Campaign as it is an organisation grounded in the belief that children- arguably the most vulnerable members of society- should be kept free from harm. The organisation prides itself in dedicating 365 days a year to campaigning and educating many stakeholders on ways to keep children safe from harm, with a core focus being on keeping children safe from preventable injuries.
During the 16 Days of Activism Campaign, ChildSafe will continue to advocate for child safety and a world free from children being subjected to harm. Through its longstanding footprint, the organisation has earned a reputation as a key stakeholder within the ambit of research focussed on child safety, advocacy, and education. It is thus fitting that the Executive Director of ChildSafe, Ms Zaitoon Rabaney, will be participating in the Children and Adolescent Sector Consultation organised by the Presidency and the Department of Social Development where she will share insights gleaned because of the various programmes led by ChildSafe.
During the 16 Days of Activism, we at ChildSafe implore everyone to make a commitment to playing an active role in creating a world where women and children are safe from harm. Remember, there is #NoExcuse. Let us all unite to prevent violence against women and children and use this 16 Days of Activism Campaign as a launchpad to a dedicated 365-day Campaign so that violence against children and women remains at the top of all agendas.”
