ChildSafe South Africa recently hosted a comprehensive two-day Early Childhood Development (ECD) Safety Training programme for 30 practitioners from Elsies River and Bonteheuwel. This initiative aimed to equip attendees with critical skills to enhance child safety and reduce injuries in their communities.
Day 1 of the training focused on ensuring safe environments for children, covering risks such as burns, drowning, falls, and poison ingestion. Practitioners were introduced to preventative strategies and practical measures to mitigate these risks in ECD centres.
Day 2 shifted the focus to paediatric first aid. Participants learned essential skills such as CPR, choking management, and wound care, with hands-on exercises to help build confidence in real-life scenarios.
Attendees who completed the training received a First Aid Certification, signifying their commitment to maintaining high standards of child safety in their centres.
ChildSafe South Africa expresses its gratitude to all participants for their dedication to creating safer spaces for children. These efforts represent a significant step toward injury prevention and community development.
