Cape Town, 11 June 2025 – ChildSafe South Africa commends the South African Police Service (SAPS) and its multidisciplinary team for their swift and coordinated response in ensuring justice for vulnerable children. The recent arrests in Bloubergstrand, as outlined in SAPS’s official media statement (SAPS Announcement), mark a critical first step towards healing and justice.
According to the SAPS statement:
*”The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested a 47-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man in Bloubergstrand, Western Cape, on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, for the alleged sexual abuse of their two daughters, aged three and eight.
The suspects face multiple charges, including the production of child sexual abuse material (commonly referred to as ‘child pornography’), rape, sexual assault, and sexual grooming.
The victims were rescued during the operation and have since been placed in a place of safety.”*
“Cases like this remind us why we need to observe Child Protection Week,” said Zaitoon Rabaney, Executive Director of ChildSafe SA. “We at ChildSafe thank all of those who worked tirelessly to bring justice to these children.”
As South Africa prepares to commemorate Youth Day, ChildSafe urges the public to remember that every child deserves care, protection, and a safe environment. Our collective responsibility is to remain vigilant, report abuse, and advocate for policies that protect children from harm.
